eternal, Five Minute Friday, FMFParty, Jesus, Nothing, redemption
Emptied of everything.
Nothing good inside anyways.
The leftovers?
Nothing
Sounds dull, lifeless, even depressing doesn’t it?
Yet, that’s exactly how Jesus wants us in order that we can be filled to the brim with Him.
Filled with His goodness.
The fullness of Christ’s Spirit inside.
The outcome?
Pure, unadulterated love.
Love so poignantly sweet like costly perfume that we, like Mary Magdalene, can pour out over the feet of Christ as we reach out our hands and our love.
Something so beautiful and eternal birthed out of the emptiness of nothing.
That’s the beauty of our Savior’s redemption!
That’s just like God, isn’t it?

Beautiful words. And one of my favorite moments in scripture: the pouring out of expensive perfume on the feet of Jesus. Such extravagant love! Thank you for this encouragement today. And I am glad that I discovered your blog and your words through FMF!

Love this! Thanks for the reminder, Rebecca–that it’s much easier to fill a vessel when completely empty. Can’t be filled up with God & His Almightyness when there are other things fighting for space too. Just dropping in from the FMF linkup.
Blessings!
