Seminary life was made sweeter and more delicious by these rolls shared by my kind friend, Mindy Akright. She welcomed us to “the village” with these hot rolls drenched in sizzling butter and they became a staple of goodness in my own kitchen as well as a reminder of the sweetness and vital importance of community.
2 C warm water
2 Tbs oil
1 dash of salt
6 C flour
1 C sugar
2 Tbs yeast
Plenty of butter!
Layer all ingredients in the order given in a bread machine maker. Use the dough setting, but watch it so that it fully combines all the ingredients at the beginning (you will need to “baby it” at the beginning by keeping an eye on it and using a spatula to scrape the edges). When the cycle has completed, pinch off golf ball size balls and place in a greased 9×13 pan. Slather them (“slather” is so awesome isn’t it?!) with a generous portion of melted butter.
Cover with foil and place in a warm spot for 20 minutes to rise.
Remove foil and bake rolls at 350 for about 25 minutes. When they are finished baking, have some more melted butter ready to douse them again and listen to the delicious sizzle of goodness! (seriously, they sizzle with goodness!)
Blink and they will be gone! 🙂
